Your Best Life Disability and Health Services Ltd offers Your Best Life Allied Health , Your Best Life Mental Health, Your Best Life Children’s and Teens’ Therapy, Your Best Life Employee Assistance Programme, Your Best Life Independent Living and Your Choice Plan Management. Our business units work together to provide an integrated and seemless services to our clients.

We operate on the Sunshine Coast, Noosa, Moreton Bay, and Gympie. Our telehealth services are sought by clients across the region and across Australia. All of our services aim to help NDIS participants and other clients with disabilities and health conditions to live their best life.

We are committed to growth and diversification to meet real, expressed needs of NDIS participants and other clients. As a not-for-profit, we put people in front of profits and are leading the development of diverse and inclusive disability support services in the region. We are client-centred, open to great ideas, innovative, and collaboration.

Our people

Debbie Blumel

Chief Executive Officer

BA, BSocWk, MSW, MBA, GAIC

Debbie has extensive experience in strategic leadership positions in disability, health and housing organisations during times of great challenges and transformational change. Debbie is passionate about improving disability and health outcomes and strengthening communities through organisational leadership and regional development. Her experience in integrating and streamlining human services spans Queensland and the Northern Territory as well as national initiatives.

Debbie serves as a director on the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Services Board and its Finance and Performance Committee as well serving as a member of the Sunshine Coast AICD Regional Committee. Debbie previously served as CEO of the Northern Territory Medicare Local with accountability for improving the primary health care system and streamlining patient pathways in both urban and remote communities. From 2008-2012, Debbie was an elected councillor on the Sunshine Coast Council where she was able to continue her commitment to strengthening regional communities. Debbie held the Major Projects Portfolio, was a member of the statutory Organisational Performance and Service Delivery Committee, and represented council on the Council of Mayors’ Infrastructure Committee. Debbie was appointed by the State and Federal Ministers for Regional Development as inaugural chair of Regional Development Australia Sunshine Coast and was elected by Queensland coastal councils to represent them on the National Sea Change Taskforce.

In 2012, Debbie was appointed CEO Northern Territory Medicare Local with a focus on improving the primary health care system and streamlining patient pathways, particularly for remote Indigenous peoples. Following an Executive Director appointment in the NT Department of Housing with a role of building organisational and community organisation capabilities to improve service delivery, Debbie returned to the Sunshine Coast.

Emma Burke

General Manager

As an established Executive and Strategic leader, Emma brings over a decade of experience in various ‘for profit’ and ‘for purpose’ organisations.

Emma has built her professional practice in community services, always seeking to build individual capacity, capability and connection to business. She is deeply passionate about her local community and helping others achieve their full potential while ‘being kind to their mind’.

Emma has practiced values-based leadership in transformational settings, most recently in implementing NDIS across NFP’s in disability.

Continuous learning and being purposeful are important factors for Emma, she believes we never stop learning and need to take the time to be mindful about one’s actions and intent. This has taken Emma down a path of formal and informal learning, including various qualifications in Psychology, Management, disability, mental health, and leadership.

She is committed to building strong, accessible and inclusive communities for people to function at their very best.
With a passion for her family, community and living ‘Your Best Life’, you will often find Emma, chasing her 2-year-old son along the beautiful Coastline.

Sue Richards

Chief Financial Officer

BBus, CPA

Sue Richardson is a Certified Practicing Accountant with a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) and Diploma of Business (Frontline Management). Sue has extensive accounting experience across a range of sectors including health and disability, hospitality, heavy vehicles, and education. Sue joined YBLDHS in mid-2016 and has played a key role in developing the company to meet the business requirements of the NDIS.

Sue provides executive leadership in strategic financial planning and reporting as well as associated corporate functions. Sue works closely with the Board, CEO and Executive Leadership Team to achieve the Board’s vision of an NDIS-ready organisation through diversification and growth. As CFO, Sue leads, monitors, and reports on financial management and performance of YBLDHS and the individual P&L performance of its four businesses (CATTS, LevelUp Independent Living, Mindcare MHS, and YCPM).

Melissa Terry

Chief Operating Officer

BSc (Psychology)

Melissa has a Bachelor of Science (Psychology) degree and extensive international experience in not-for-profit sectors in Australia, New Zealand, and the United Kingdom. Melissa has worked for Your Best Life Disability and Health Services Ltd since 2017 and was instrumental in opening our Kawana, Caboolture, and Maroochydore centres and implementing our business model.

Melissa is committed to providing a safe, quality service that ensures children of all ages and abilities have equal access to the supports they need at a time and location they need them.

Sarah Brotherton

Centre Coordinator

Continuity of care: emergency and disaster

Your health and safety and that of our staff are of the utmost importance to us, especially during extreme weather events, virus outbreaks, and other hazardous circumstances.

As a registered and accredited NDIS service provider, we have a duty to provide continuity of care to our clients. This means we may take extra precautions and can offer telehealth services by video or phone where appropriate.
